Final challenge for Project Quilting is flying geese, the suggestion of a clock, and a rush to finish because I ran out of time 😐 This has been such a fun IG ride, thanks Persimmon Dreams and all the fabulous sponsors😀

Well Dressed Man PQ Season 8

A trip to Goodwill yielded a half dozen beautiful men's chambray and cotton shirts - lilac, and sky blue among them. I deconstructed them and got to work! After a late mid-week start and some design hiccups, I finished late Saturday night.  With 1/2 yard white Kona and a fat quarter of AGF cute shirt fabric as accent,  the quilt is pieced with the shirt fabric, including a pieced back (shown on my IG feed). The dark centers are a dobby stripe pinwheel, alternating  squares/crosses. Finished size is 38" x 48"

Brighter IS Better! PQ Season 8

Project Quilting Season 8 challenge #4 complete! I challenged myself to use purple, magenta, pink because they are not my go to's. I added some citrus sass to keep it from being too sweet😉 19x 23 finished size and pieced the back to use up one more magenta fat quarter!

Project Quilting Season 8 challenge is texture. I based this improv piecing on a photo of tree branches agsinst a deep blue sky at a local park.  18" x 20" #pqseason8

Project Quilting Season 8

Inspired by the curved petals and tropical colors of the Carolina Lily. I challenged myself to try curved bias piecing, and added texture with machine and hand stitching.

The first challenge - Eight is Great- of Project Quilting Season 8 is finished! A Little Help from my (8) Friends is a pieced and appliqued mini quilt - 10" x 18".

Mini Mania II

These cute little houses are next!

Mini Mania

Saw these darling mini quilts on display at a LQS (local quilt shop) and was charmed! So HAD to buy the pattern, and used a Kaffe Fassett pastel charm square bundle to make my first mini :) Quilting and binding are up next.

Treasure hunting

This charming painting is an estate sale find, $1 and painted on cardboard, sadly. The wood panel is an old bakers cabinet door, probably from the top section. I added the turquoise paint and hangers.

Step 3 & 4

Stitched, cut apart, pressed, ready to sew again :)

Step 2 Cutting

Stitching done, following the directional lines on the paper. Cutting horizontal, then vertical lines. Next, carefully realign the pieces to cut the diagonals...
Now I have a pile of blocks ready to press, after I "snap" the paper template off.

Step 1

Fat quarters cut into 8" wide strips, ditto Kona white. Layered right sides together with Triangles on a roll (3" finished block size) on top. Now off to the sewing machine.

New Project

No grass grows under these feet, starting a new project while impatiently waiting for the March Gypsy QAL post, lol!

Cheater quilt

The dilemna: I needed (wanted) a different comforter for my king size bed. I trolled Pinterest, found a post by Macy's featuring a quilt with a large pieced panel in the center, the width of the quilt.
Cheater solution: I bought a king size quilt from Stein Mart ($29 !!). Bought $$ quilt fabric which I cut into 2-1/2" strips. Which brings me to the current step in the process - laying out the strips and sewing them together.

The QCR

Table runner using the Quick Curve ruler and the included pattern. I added chains to accomodate my loooong table :)

Section 1 complete

Finished the first section  :)  Five blocks, assorted strips, lots of color and pattern - off to a good start!

More Fabric :)

A trip to Etc. yielded this batch of fun fabrics for the Gypsy Wife quilt. The fabrics are washed, starched, ironed and ready to cut. Woot woot!

Gypsy Wife Journey

Pulled this pitifully small collection of fabrics from my stash. It is woefully inadequate - I have no small volumn prints and few light values. Clearly a trip to the fabric store is in order ;)

Creative challenge - primary colors

This three panel painting (triptych in art speak) was a personal challenge in color mixing. Using ONLY the basic cyan (blue), magenta, cadmium yellow "primaries" I painted this for my AZ home. White was used to create tints for value/contrast.
